The British Academy of Film and Television Arts brought together Hollywood A-Listers and industry professionals at a black-tie event to showcase 42 emerging British individuals to the US. The gala dinner and party, which took place at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles was attended by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The design focus was to give the event a stylish, cool Britannia feel with a modern Anglo-mania twist, resulting in an eclectic mix of English heritage style and high fashion.
All 57 wait staff wore Edwardian-styled waistcoats printed with gold BAFTA masks, and accessorised with bowler hats, Windsor knot ties and gold lion brooches. Key staff wore dresses and jackets re-fashioned from original Union Jack flags.
The dining tables were dressed with bespoke union jack inspired lampshades, set in gold bowls filled with blooms of English roses in rich, deep hues. Guests drank from gold goblets and were served a British themed menu of Fillet of Beef and Eton Mess, served on white antique-style plates.
A giant custom built screen with moulded gilt frame gave a cinema paradiso feel to the decadent interior of the theatre and still life vignettes of flowers, antique books and British bulldog sculptures adorned the bars.
